Voltaren
Voltaren (diclofenac) is a non
steroidal anti inflammatory drug (NSAID). This medicine works by reducing
substances in the body that cause pain inflammation.
Voltaren is used to treat pain
or inflammation caused by rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis or ankylosing
spondylitis.
Mechanism of action
The
exact mechanism of action is not
entirely known, but it is thought that the primary mechanism responsible
for its anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, and analgesic action is inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis
by inhibition ofcyclooxygenase (COX).
